Around this time last year myself and four of my buddies went for a walk up a mountain in Galway for three days and I just recently got a chance to put together the footage into this slightly long winded account of the adventure. The start intro and the end (from about 12mins in) are about the best parts. I'm off to Kerry on Survivor Paddy 2 on Thursday can't wait!

This was an interesting little project I got to work on last week. Once again created for Crossing the Line, (who, at this stage, are keeping my fridge stocked full of beer) these titles and maps were designed for a Charlie Bird programme where he retraces the journeys of famous Irish legend and explorer Tom Crean.

I enjoy doing title sequences and would hope to get more involved in this side of the business.

The Clara Bog Animations

Made in conjunction with the guys over at Crossing the Line Films this selection of short animated clips was created for an interactive children's information kiosk for the Clara Bog interpretative centre in Offaly. I was quite proud of this project as it is the first fully 3D animated work I have done so far.

Crossing the Line

For the past few months I've been working with a television production company called Crossing the Line. They specialise in nature, travel and historical documentaries which are amazingly produced and are really high quality, world class television shows.

I originally got my first job with them to design a poster for schools which was in conjunction with the Wild Journeys series. They where so happy with this that they asked me to rebrand their logo, and completely redo their website and also create the Wild Journeys DVD which I was delighted to see in HMV over Christmas, they had put it on the 'best of BBC' stand though!

They are a great company to work for and I am thankfully starting a new project with them in the new year which I am pretty excited about as it is a 3D animation for an interpretative center in Clara Bog.

Science Fiction

The new puppet/animation series Science Fiction that I've been working on with Colm Tobin and Paul Madden airs today at 4.40pm on RTE. I worked on all the puppet/live action bits which we did on green screen. We shot the puppets' heads on a separate plate and composited them with a real person's body (my body!) It was fairly experimental and we weren't sure if it was going to work and it turned out well, I think?

I also got to create my first (paid) 3D job on it, there is a northside robot character called BudE (bring the universe down to earth) I also did up the sets.

So check it out if you get a chance, it's pretty damn funny even if you're not 8 years old!

Brand New Website

Yet another redesign, but this one will hopefully be around for a while.

I wanted to have a proper html site as apposed to a flash one, one that I could integrate my blog and one that would be easily updateable. So at the start of the summer I set about learning Dreamweaver and it wasn't long before I realised that life is too short. Then after having a chat to my brother about the horrors of programing he sent me in the direction of Squarespace. I highly recommend this site it does all the programing for you all you have to do is design, perfect! I mean I spent the best part of a week working out how to load my blog onto my site, they have an 'import blog button'! There not free but they are worth it or at least save you from the hours of programing hell.

So now that I have a shiny new site I also will have a new rss feed (sorry blogger it was good while it lasted) and I promise to keep it updated I swear.

Paul Clancy R.I.P

Got some very sad and shocking news last week, my good friend Paul Clancy died suddenly of a heart attack or what's known as 'sudden adult death syndrome'.

He was a really great guy, one of the nicest you could ever meet, really funny too - he had fairly unique sense of humor and was also a talented musician.

It was so sad because he had so much to look forward to, he was to get married in September to his lovely fiancee Isa and was also due to release his new album this week (I helped him out with the art work). If anyone is interested in buying the album you can get it on download here.

It's still hard to believe he's gone, I'll really miss Paul he was a really cool guy, one of the best!

Eco Boy

Myself and Derek made this last year for another competition for a group called Greenme.ie. The first prize was to win a car but the comp was a complete sham, in the end I don't think anybody won but we had fun making it.
We slapped it together over a couple of days (as you will see with the dodgy green screen, sound etc) but with the help of Aran, Derek's little nephew (who did an amazing job in the lead role) and our make-up and costumes department (Isobel) it turned out pretty well.
